Preparing for the RMV Road Test

Doing something for the first time can be very stressful. When that is a Road Test and all that stands between a student and obtaining their driver’s license, the stress is magnified.

The RMV’s Road Test Team has filmed several videos for students preparing for a road test. There are four videos, which are available on YouTube by clicking here. Below is a short outline of each video:

  • Video 1: Getting Ready at the Service Center: Learn what documents are required to present before you take a road test. Without these documents, you will not be eligible to take the road test.
  • Video 2: Driving the Car: This video shows you what’s involved on the road test. The Road Text Examiner will observe you while on the road to ensure that you can safely operate a vehicle, follow the rules of the road, and obey traffic signs.
  • Video 3: Maneuvers: You will have to demonstrate your skills on how to safely perform some basic maneuvers and safely check your surroundings.
  • Video 4: Getting the Grade Back at the Service Center: At the conclusion of your test, the examiner will provide you with some constructive criticism on what you did well and what you didn’t do well, and you’ll receive results of your road test.
